Design for Human Sensing

Factorization of Anonymous Sensing Data

There is a growing global trend to prevent the acquisition of identifiable personal information. We aim to realize accurate action recognition and data tracking for the same person, even from anonymous sensing data, without facial images or personal matching. By factorizing sensing data into the features of humans, actions, and objects, we can eliminate the influence of each other on the recognition. This work contributes to the construction of anonymous big data that enables advanced data gathering, distribution, storage, and analysis. >> More

Lesson Design

(Collaborating with Osaka University, Osaka Institute of Technology, Kyoto University, etc.)

We propose a method for automatically visualizing the process and content of classes. Although there are ways to visualize the contents of classes manually, these approaches involve considerable investments of time and money. Machine learning techniques can automate the visualization.

Textile Design by Image Processing

(Joint work with Yamanashi Industrial Technology Center, Fuji Technology Support Center)

Jacquard fabric has depicted rich description of subjects with various weaving patterns. We propose a method for automatically assigning the best-matched patterns for individual subjects by considering the textural characteristics. Moreover, our developed system enables a designer to intentionally assign accentual patterns for arbitrary regions on-the-fly. The generated patterns are guaranteed to be weavable as Jacquard fabric. >> More

Functional Design of Conductive Fabric

We propose a method for changing the functionality of conductive fabric by using different weaves on the same materials. The pressurization location sensors in our work can alter the electrical properties of a given fabric—made entirely of the same material, in both the warp and weft directions—by changing the weaving technique in certain locations of the fabric. >> More

Mono-glass for Providing Distance Information

mono.s We propose mono-glass for providing distance information for people losing sight in one eye. We implemented a pilot system of mono-glass under careful consideration of precision, real-time processing and intuitive presentation. >> More
